O Pioneers!
by Willa Cather
Nebraska marks its ninth year of
One Book One Nebraska, selecting and
promoting a title for Nebraska citizens to read to celebrate the literary
richness of our state. Nebraska libraries and other literary and cultural
organizations statewide plan activities and events to encourage all
Nebraskans to read and discuss the same book.
The Nebraska Center for the Book announced
O Pioneers! as the 2013 One Book One Nebraska featured selection
at the Celebration of Nebraska Books on Nov. 3, 2012. The other three
finalists were Once Upon a Town: The Miracle of the North Platte Canteen by
Bob Greene; While the Patient Slept by Mignon Eberhart; and The Tie That Binds by Kent Haruf.
One Book One Nebraska 2013 is sponsored by the
Nebraska Center for
the Book, Humanities Nebraska,
Nebraska Library Association,
Nebraska Library Commission, The Willa Cather Foundation, and
University of Nebraska Press. Libraries across Nebraska will join the
Willa Cather Foundation, Nebraska Center for the Book, and other
literary and cultural organizations in planning book discussions,
activities, and events that will encourage Nebraskans to read and
discuss this book.
Use this Website to discover a wide
variety of materials and activities to support your exploration of O Pioneers! and the life of
